Qatar-Finland International School is an international school located in Doha, Qatar. The school follows the Finnish National Core Curriculum combined with local requirements. The primary task of the school is to provide quality education as well as to support and develop the education system of Qatar.

The school hosts Grades 0–9 (age groups 4–15). For the academic year 2018–2019, the school has approximately 800 students, approximately 80 pedagogical staff members, 50 of whom are from Finland.

We are looking for CLASS TEACHERS, SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS, SUBJECT TEACHERS and CAREER COUNSELLOR starting in August 2018 at Qatar–Finland International School, Doha.

What is expected?

Class Teachers and Subject Teachers in Maths, English, Science, and PE

  • Planning and implementing teaching according to the school curriculum and pedagogical approach
  • A business and customer oriented approach according to brand guidelines
  • Substitution
  • Continuous student assessment, follow-up and recording of student development
  • Student supervision
  • Participation in Professional Development programmes
  • Contribution to school development work
  • Weekly home-school communication with parents
  • Any other duties allocated by the school admin

Special Education Teacher (SEN):

  • Supporting students in collaboration with teachers, learning assistants and parents
  • Participation in Professional Development programmes
  • A business and customer oriented approach according to brand guidelines
  • Substitution
  • Implementing and supporting student testing according to school SEN policies
  • Being active members in the Student Welfare Team
  • Contribution to school development work with a focus on SEN structures
  • Expertise in student admission through student testing and results analysis
  • Developing Extended Personal Learning Plans (EPLP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Any other duties allocated by the school admin

Career Counsellor (high school):

High school career counsellor advises students in making academic and career plans. He/she helps students choose classes and plan for their lives after graduation. The counsellor provides information about choosing and applying for colleges, training programmes, financial aid, and apprenticeships. He/she presents career workshops to help students search and apply for jobs, write résumés, and improve interviewing skills.
Career counsellors typically do the following:

  • Use aptitude and achievement assessments to help students evaluate their interests, skills, and abilities
  • Evaluate students’ background, education, and training to help them develop realistic goals
  • Guide students through making decisions about their careers, such as choosing a new profession and finding a suitable type of degree to pursue
  • Help students learn job search skills, such as interviewing and networking
  • Assist students in finding and applying for jobs, by teaching them strategies to find vacancies and how to write a résumé
  • Advise students on how to resolve problems in the workplace, such as conflicts with bosses or co-workers
  • Help students select and apply for educational programmes, to obtain the necessary degrees, credentials, and skills
  • Coordinate the school connections to working life and offer students possibilities for visits into these places
  • Facilitate weekly counsellor lessons in middle school classes
